  • winetasting.jpgIn my opinion, the worst thing that can happen on a Saturday morning is having something that I HAVE to do. I prefer to kickoff my weekends with a unstructured list of things I WANT to do.

  • egg-tomato.jpgOne of my favorite comfort foods, Arroz Cubano, makes a great mid-week meal after a long day at work. By the name, you would think it was a Cuban dish, but it’s actually a staple on the kitchen tables of most Spanish households.

  • food-radio.jpgI have to admit that the Sunday of the Restaurant Festival I was a little nervous about “broadcasting live” with WCOJ, but at the end of the event radio personality JT Morgan asked if I wanted to come on his Morning Edition show to do more food stuff…

  • In October, Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Wine & Spirits stores are sponsoring “Creative Cocktails,” a series of free tastings open to the public.

If you go you recipe cards for exhibited cocktails, pricing specials on featured spirits and, if you’re lucky, complimentary hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants.

Bartenders will be preparing one or more cocktails and providing free samples at each event. Featured bartenders will be from local restaurants or spirits distributors.

So far only two events have been scheduled at the Premium Collection Wine & Spirits Store, 933 Paoli Pike, West Goshen. Mark your calendar!

    Oct. 18-20, 5:30-7:30 p.m. — Spirit featured: Absolut Pears

Oct. 27, 5:30-7:30 p.m. — Spirit featured: Zaya Rum; cocktails mixed: rocks, snifter.

  • I just dropped by Sprazzo for coffee and email-checking, and I met a nice guy named Eric who was filling a bunch of sample cups with some of Sprazzo’s delicious baked goods, which he’ll be giving out along Gay St. this afternoon (I’ll bet they won’t last long).

We got to talking, and in his cool French accent, Eric gave me the scoop on a new event called “Open Talk Night”…

    What: Open Talk Night
When: Every Wednesday, from 7pm to 10pm
Where: Sprazzo Cafe (at the corner of Gay St. and High St.) in the second-floor seating area.

Aparently, it’s a fairly common occurrence in Europe, where friends and strangers of all ages gather in a bar or cafe (Sprazzo is BYOB) and pass …

  • takeoutchinese.jpgTonight was the first time in eleven days that I heard my mom’s cheery voice. My sister, my sister’s partner and my mamma had just landed off marathon flight back from China and I couldn’t wait to hear all about the trip.
