  • That Blue Yak (while great) can be a bit more offensive then us over here at wcdish.com. But since this was food-related and made me giggle I’m including it in Other Food News. May offend some readers: here’s his article.

  • The garden center Terrain at Styer’s is holding a four-course “chef’s dinner” starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, featuring locally grown produce.

Chef David Berg’s menu highlights “harvest fare” with salad arugala w/peaches/local goat cheese/candied walnuts; filet mignon; roasted potato piave; and a local apple dessert.

The event is BYOB, but complimentary glasses of Prosecco will be provided.

Cost is $35 and reservations are requested.

Terrain at Styer’s is at 914 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills.

More information is available at www.terrainathome.com; call 610-459-2400 for reservations.

  • Longwood Gardens in East Marlborough is holding a progressive dinner starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 4.

“Culinature: From Harvest to Table” offers a culinary tour of the gardens, stopping at different garden spots for cocktails (complimentary wine and champagne), dinner and dessert.

Learn from the gardeners about the foods you are eating, while listening to dinner music and watching Longwood’s chefs create meals with local products in “field kitchens.”

Cost is $150 per person; $130 for passholders. Tickets will be on sale through Sept. 26 at www.longwoodgardens.org.

  • The six wineries of the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail are holding a Harvest Fest Sept. 27 and 28 and Oct. 4 and 5.

For a $25 “passport,” participants may visit the six member wineries in and around Chester County for tastings, concerts, picnics, hayrides, vineyard tours, art exhibits and other special activities.

The wineries include Chaddsford Winery, www.chaddsford.com; Paradocx Vineyard, www.paradocx.com; Penns Woods Winery, www.pennswoodswinery.com; Twin Brook Winery, www.twinbrookwinery.com; Kreutz Creek Vineyards, www.kreutzcreekvineyards.com; and Va La Family Farmed Wines, www.valavineyards.com.
