  • Hurray!!!   I am happy to announce that harvest 2008 is finally over. We handpicked 43 tons of grapes this year. Although harvesting is complete we still have several tanks of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot fermenting.  They will be ready for pressing by early next week.

    The quality of the grapes this year is very high!  The weather seemed to be very normal and was actually conducive to growing good grapes.  We started with a wet spring, summer was mostly dry with a few wet periods.  I was concerned at the beginning of hurricane season but with a little cooperation from Mother Nature, it ended on a dry note.  Overall, I’m truly pleased and hope it’s this great next …

  • On Saturday, November 15, beginning at 12 noon, Justin Sproul, head brewer at Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant (147 East Main Street, #302.266.9000) will host a Brewers’ Reserve Black and Real Ales. The event will showcase firkins of cask conditioned dark and pale ales from all seven of Iron Hill’s award-winning locations, plus additional beers from some of the region’s top craft breweries.

    Finding creatures in your food is never pleasant, but two chefs received the shock of their lives when they spotted tiny human faces smiling out at them from a packet of broccoli.
