  • Holiday Mall Food Court Challenges brought to you by Margaret Moses, RD from ACAC Fitness and Wellness Center.

Those all day shopping marathons might be good ways to complete your holiday shopping, but those pesky food courts can pose a challenge to eating healthy – after all, shopping works up an appetite!

Watch for these less-than-preferable choices at mall eateries:

1 Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookie = 250 calories

    1 McDonald’s large chocolate shake – 1030 calaories

1 Dunkin’ Donuts chocolate glazed cake donut – 340 calories

1 medium movie theater popcorn = 900 caloires

1 slice Cheesecake Factory original cheesecake = 710 calories

Healthier options include salads from fast food eateries (but watch the amount of salad dressing) , ordering …

  • After attending the Wing Bowl at Kildare’s last week I received this email from one of the participants who wanted to share a behind the scenes look of this unique food competition.

Growing up outside of the US there are some things you just don’t get exposed to. So, when I had the opportunity to take part in a speed eating contest, I jumped straight onto it. The event was a wing bowl at Kildares West Chester. The rules were simple, one hundred wings, three beers, three persons per team. It sounded simple enough, and thirty wings didn’t sound like all that much extra. But of course appearances are always misleading.
I arrived on the night to be greeted by a …

  • The weather was gorgeous, the food was amazing and plenty of people showed up (I think that’s a bit of an understatement). By all accounts this year’s Chester County Restaurant Festival was a resounding success. Understandably, some of the skeptics would point out that as a sponsor of the festival we have to say good things about the event. Well, as my role model and 3rd grade obsession Lavar Burton always use to say,”You don’t have to take my word for it.”

Here’s what some of the other attendees had to say about the Restaurant Festival:
    The Kellehers- a family blog
Tasty Food for You - a Philly food blogger
The BBQ Bachelor - exactly what it says

  • www.wcdish.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/01/images-8.jpg” alt=”images-8.jpg” />One of my best friends came over tonight. I haven’t had the privilege of hanging out with him since last year. To celebrate we drove around town, listened to cheesy techno music and stopped at the grocery store to a pint of Ben and Jerry’s.

A bottle of locally made red wine and a pint of Chubby Hubby later we were dancing in my living room. Dancing quickly became jumping and jumping turned into phonebook surfing.

What, you ask, is phonebook surfing? It’s when you put on music really loud and with bellies full of ice cream, you place a phone book in the middle of the room and run and jump on the phone book …

  • We had nowhere to stay when we crossed the Floyd city limits around 7:30 pm Saturday evening. In search of accommodations we did what anyone else would do. We went to the local Dollar General. The yellow pages had exactly three options under the heading œLodging. The first listing was a motel/senior assisted living center. It was also the only place within walking distance of local food and nightlife. I used the store telephone to see if they had availability. The woman on the other end said she would need to check on it and call me back. My cell phone had spotty service, so she said she …
