All silliness aside, the new Giant supermarket on Route 322 is really my new favorite place to wander late at night! I used to be a devout Wegman’s follower, but the close proximity (about a two and a half minute car ride) to the center of West Chester has lured me in. While writing this, I’m sipping on organic carrot-orange juice from their big organic isles - yum! At least once or twice a week, friends and I drive over and mull for hours over what specific snack we want to try that week - this week, it’s homemade gourmet pizzas!
It’s simple - get one (or ten!) frozen pizzas, just cheese, nothing else. Then, wander over to the fresh veggie section, and pour over the day’s pickings. Just steps away is the meat department, surrounded by the seafood counter and the fresh cheeses. Take a few walks around, get comfortable with your surroundings, and don’t forget to bring a notebook! Write everything down that looks delish, and then come up with the World’s Greatest Pizza, compliments of the finest chef - yourself!
This week, a friend and I decided to split a pizza and each create a side. Try it out for yourself, make up your own, and let us know what tastes good!
Sarah’s Pizza
1 Giant brand four cheese frozen pizza ($7 for two!)
1 spoonfull of pitted Kalamata olives
1 spoonfull of green olives, stuffed with Feta cheese
1 spoonfull of pre-made bruschetta (Any combo from the Mediterranean
bar is $5.99/lb)
Pre-heat the oven! This really does save time, even though I perpetually forget this important step. While it’s warming up, spread the bruschetta over the pizza. Cut up the Kalamata olives into quarters and sprinkle around. I wouldn’t try to cut the stuffed olives, since they fall apart . . . place them strategically around the pie so that each bite has a big surprise! Cook for around 15 minutes, according to directions, and let cool a bit. Save extras for later, they warm up nicely for leftovers!
