For our last day in Belize Patty and her husband joined us for a day at the beach. We caught a 6:00am bus to a ferry and the ferry dropped us off in Placencia, a quaint resort town that is known for having the world’s smallest main street (it’s the size of a sidewalk). Our hotel was literally across from the ferry doc and it was simply heaven.
This was the nicest place we had stayed by far. The hotel had a bar and a restaurant and looked right out onto the beach. It was an open air everything so you could just breath in the sunshine. Because we caught such an early bus we arrived at the hotel before check out so we had to kill time before we got our room. We changed into our suits and grabbed some coffee at the bar.

I was in love with the fact that I had to only walk three places in the next 24-28 hours. The beach, the bar and the room. They were all within feet of each other which was amazing. I could leave my pack in my room and not have to be ready to sling it on my shoulders in a moments notice to catch a bus, flight or taxi. All I had to do was park myself on the beach. That’s what I thought anyway until Patty mentioned a gelato shop that was down the road. Okay, so maybe I would make an exception… a few times.
The final dish: Another food quote from Patty, “I am going to make it a mission to eat gelato from this shop at least four times while we are here. It’s that good.”

I am all about missions… and yes, we completed this one.
