I love to travel and I love to eat. So when other people go to cool places I love to live vicariously through their photos and taste buds.
I was excited to hear that my friends Tom and Liz were going to China and were going to try all the exotic foods. They sent back some delicious photos from their trip so far. Here are the pics… and the email from Tom.
Liz and I have made it to China and we are having a great time. This past weekend we went into a very remote part of Sichuan to visit a friend’s family. We have a travel blog that you can read up on, if you get a chance. http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog/tomlacey/2/tpod.html
The food here is amazing, we are actually going to a party tonight at a Hunan restaurant, which is some of the spiciest food I have ever eaten.

The Final Dish: Thanks Tom and Liz! If you are travelling somewhere fun for vacation send me your pictures so that I can post them for all of us to “taste”.

Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of the food, but I visited Iceland about 5 years ago. Icelanders take their food pretty seriously. Every restaurant that’s not a take-out joint has to have a master chef on staff, so the quality of the food is excellent. I tried an Icelandic Hot Dog which wasn’t made of beef or pork but LAMB. Yeccchh! The salted cod was pretty good, and the grilled monkfish kabobs were quite frankly the best meal I’ve ever had in my life. I didn’t get a chance to try any puffin or rotten shark.
As far as drinking goes, they drink a beer called Viking which is pretty good. There’s also a peppermint schnapps called “Black Death” which definitely does the trick. The sun barely sets in the summer time so it’s easy to stay out late.
It’s an expensive country but an absolutely beautiful one with great food, breathtaking scenery and friendly people. I’d go back in a heartbeat!
